Research

To ensure that you receive the best care possible, Mayo Clinic hematologists research blood diseases in the laboratory and through clinical trials. These experts work within the larger Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as a comprehensive cancer center.

NCI promotes collaboration between cancer research institutions and helps fund Mayo Clinic's lymphoma and myeloma research through the highly competitive Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) grants. Mayo Clinic applies that research to developing more effective and less toxic treatments for the diseases.
