Clinical trials Below are current clinical trials.121 studies in Surgery (open studies only). Filter this list of studies by location, status and more. A Study to Create a Registry of Non-Fusion Spinal Deformity Correction in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Minneapolis, Minn., Rochester, Minn. The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of non-fusion surgical treatment of Spinal Deformity Correction in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. The Post Approval Study (PAS) is gathering data on the Tether device and it's efficacy and safety. A Study to Evaluate Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy to Treat Patients with Pancreatic Cancer and Peritoneal Metastasis Rochester, Minn. The primary purpose of this study is to assess short-term morbidity and disease-free survival outcomes for patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma with limited low volume peritoneal metastasis or positive peritoneal cytology undergoing hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Nivolumab and Ipilimumab in Treating Patients With Esophageal and Gastroesophageal Junction Adenocarcinoma Undergoing Surgery Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to anayze the usefulness of treatment with nivolumab and ipilimumab in addition to standard of care chemotherapy and radiation therapy in patients with esophageal and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma who are undergoing surgery. Immunotherapy with antibodies, such as nivolumab and ipilimumab, may remove the brake on the body's immune system and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy may reduce the tumor size and the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed during surgery. A combined treatment with nivolumab and ipilimumab, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy might be more effective in patients with esophageal and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma who are undergoing surgery. MElanoma Research Lymph node prediction Implementation National_001 (MERLIN_001) Rochester, Minn. This study aims to create a registry for primary melanoma gene-signature to predict sentinel node (SN) status and determine its prognostic value for more accurate staging of SN-negative melanoma patients. A Study to Evaluate Manipulation Under Anesthesia After Bilateral Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine unique genetic profile of patients requiring MUA following bilateral pTKA via genetic sequencing, to determine outcomes of patients receiving MUA in terms of KSS, implant durability, survival free of reoperation, and to define characteristics and comorbidities of patients undergoing unilateral and bilateral MUA. Trial of Multi-epitope HER2 Peptide Vaccine in Patients with HER2-expressing DCIS Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety, effcicacy and tolerability of H2NVAC in patients with HER2-expressing DCIS in order to prevent future invasive breast cancer among patients who are diagnosed with DCIS. Stem Cell Coated Fistula Plug in Patients With Crohn's RVF Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety of using an autologous mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) coated fistula plug in people with rectovaginal fistulizing Crohn's disease. Autologous means that these cells that coat the plug come from you. You will be in this study for two years. There is potential to continue to monitor your progress with lifelong regular visits as part of your standard of care. All study visits take place at Mayo Clinic and Rochester, MN. The study visit schedule is as follows: Visit 1 (Week -6) - Screening visit: exam under anesthesia and surgery to assess eligibility of fistula tract, take fat biopsy, if eligible, and fecal diversion. Visit 2 (Week 0; Day 0), exam under anesthesia for stem cell coated fistula plug placement Visit 3 (Week 0; Day 1) Visit 4 (Week 2; Month 1) Visit 5 (Week 4; Month 1) Visit 6 (Week 8; Month 2) Visit 7 (Week 12; Month 3) Visit 8 (Week 24; Month 6) Visit 9 (Week 52; Month 12). Visit 10 (Week 104, Month 24) Outcome of Capsular Release for Elbow Contracture Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess the outcome and complications of capsular release for elbow contractures. A Study to Compare Somatostatin Analogues with Perioperative Antibiotics versus Prolonged Antibiotics Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to to determine the individual treatment effect of somatostatin and whether duration of antibiotic therapy coupled with octreotide provides improved outcomes after pancreaticoduodenectomy. Aggressive Malignancy PDX (Avatar) and Cryopreservation Program Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess the ability to successfully create numerous validated patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models from patient tumor specimens obtained at surgery/biopsy via the new Pathology/TRAG cryopreservation protocol, and to generate a large catalog and repertoire of previously unavailable histologically validated PDX. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
