1. Differences in Immunological Effects of Vitamin D Replacement Among African American Prostate Cancer Patients With Localized Versus Metastatic Disease

   Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   The aims of this study are to evaluate the prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency among B/AA prostate cancer patients and to determine the deficits in immunity associated with vitamin D insufficiency. Also, we will evaluate whether the peripheral blood immune cell function is different in B/AA prostate cancer patients with metastatic disease as compared with those with localized disease.

2. Virtual Dignity Therapy for Palliative Care Patients with Advanced Cancer

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to determine if it is feasible to recruit for and deliver the Virtual Dignity Therapy intervention to palliative care patients with advanced cancer and whether the intervention is beneficial in terms of improvement in distress, patient dignity, and quality of life.

3. A Study to Determine the Effect of Distance Reiki on Patient Reported Quality of Life (PRQoL) and Immunity Among Multiple Myeloma Patients

   Rochester, Minn.

   This study aims to demonstrate acceptability and feasibility of the use of Distance Reiki therapy versus sham Reiki therapy among multiple myeloma patients.It also aims to determine if there is a minimal clinically meaningful improvement in various QOL domains (Physical, Social, Emotional), overall QOL with use of Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS-29) and Single Item Linear Analogue Scale (LASA) after Distance Reik. Lastly, it aims to analyze the effect of Distance Reiki on expansion of the immune repertoire by comparing immune repertoires at baseline and at the end of the study by using Mass spectrometry by CyTOF® and  multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) sequencing of the T-cell receptors (TCRs) for assessment of immune repertoire diversity by iRepertoire®.

4. A Study of Nab-Paclitaxel as Maintenance Treatment After Cisplatin-Based Chemotherapy and Surgery for Patients with High-Risk Bladder Cancer

   Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   The purpose of this study is to evaluate nab-paclitaxel as maintenance therapy after cisplatin-based chemotherapy and surgery in treating patients with high-risk bladder cancer. Maintenance therapy, such as paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation, can help keep cancer from coming back after it has disappeared following initial chemotherapy.

5. SX-682 Treatment in Subjects With Myelodysplastic Syndrome Who Had Disease Progression or Are Intolerant to Prior Therapy

   Jacksonville, Fla.

   The purpose of this study is to determine the safety profile, maximum tolerated dose (MTD), dose-limiting toxicities (DLT), and recommended Phase 2 dose (RP2D) of SX-682 in the treatment of patients with Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS).

6. Evaluation of Outcomes in Metastatic Gastric and Esophageal Carcinoma in Relation to Immunotherapy

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is:

   • To assess the efficacy of treatment with checkpoint inhibitors (Pembrolizumab or Nivolumab) in metastatic gastric and esophageal carcinoma through retrospective chart review.
   • To explore if response to checkpoint inhibitors is dependent on biomarkers on tumor tissue.

7. Trial of Multi-epitope HER2 Peptide Vaccine in Patients with HER2-expressing DCIS

   Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla.

   The purpose of this study is to determine the safety, effcicacy and tolerability of H2NVAC in patients with HER2-expressing DCIS in order to  prevent future invasive breast cancer among patients who are diagnosed with DCIS.

8. Effect of Agent Orange Exposure on Endocrine Tumor Aggressiveness

   Jacksonville, Fla., Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   The intent is to collect relevant clinical data on patients exposed to Agent Orange plus assessment of the tissue for genetic mutations known to be associated with growth of thyroid cancer and pituitary tumors and report our findings as a descriptive case series.

9. Phase II Study of NGC-Triple Regimen in Potentially Resectable Pancreatic Cancer Patients

   Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz., Rochester, Minn.

   This is a phase II multi-center study of nab-paclitaxel, gemcitabine and cisplatin (NGC triple regimen) as preoperative therapy in potentially resectable pancreatic cancer patients. DISEASE STATE - Potentially operable or borderline resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma as assessed by standard CT criteria and histologically confirmed. - Staging by pancreatic protocol, helical abdominal computed tomography (with contrast) or MRI (with contrast) required (endoscopic ultrasound is not required). - No evidence of metastatic disease. Lymphadenopathy (defined as nodes measuring >1 cm in short axis) outside the surgical basin (i.e., para-aortic, peri-caval, celiac axis, or distant nodes) is considered M1 (unless nodes are biopsied and are negative, then enrollment can be considered after review with the study PI). Potentially Resectable Pancreatic Cancer - No involvement of the celiac artery, common hepatic artery, and superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and, if present, replaced right hepatic artery. - No involvement or <180° interface between tumor and vessel wall of the portal vein and/or superior mesenteric vein (SMV-PV) and patent portal vein/splenic vein confluence. - For tumors of the body and tail of the pancreas, involvement of the splenic artery and vein of any degree is considered resectable disease. Borderline Resectable Pancreatic Cancer - Tumor-vessel interface ≥180° of vessel wall circumference, and/or reconstructible occlusion of the SMV-PV. - Tumor-vessel interface <180° of the circumference of the SMA. - Tumor-vessel interface <180° of the circumference of the celiac artery. - Reconstructible short-segment interface of any degree between tumor and hepatic artery.

10. Mismatched Related Donor Versus Matched Unrelated Donor Stem Cell Transplantation for Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults With Acute Leukemia or Myelodysplastic Syndrome

    The purpose of this study is to compare the 1-year cumulative incidence of severe GVHD (from day of HCT) defined as Grade III-IV acute GVHD (aGVHD) and/or chronic GVHD (cGVHD) that requires systemic immunosuppression and to compare the disease free survival (DFS) (from time of randomization) in children and young adults (AYA) with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoid leukemia (ALL), and Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) who are randomly assigned to haploHCT or to an 8/8 adult MUD HCT.
