Understanding the Patient Experience in Progesterone Management for Endometrial Cancer and Complex Atypical Hyperplasia Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of the specific patient experience for women undergoing progesterone management for early-stage endometrial cancer and complex atypical hyperplasia due to morbid obesity (BMI ≥ 40). Interviews About Social Determinants of Health in Southeast Asian Americans to Identify Liver Cancer Disparities Rochester, Minn. This study is intended to understand the experiences and barriers to cancer care for individuals diagnosed with liver or any other type of cancer. Individual interviews will be conducted. A Study to Evaluate Acalabrutinib With or Without Obinutuzumab to Treat Early-Stage Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia or Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma Patients Jacksonville, Fla., Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. This phase II trials studies how well acalabrutinib with or without obinutuzumab works in treating participants with early-stage chronic lymphocytic leukemia or small lymphocytic lymphoma. Acalabrutinib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Monoclonal antibodies, such as obinutuzumab, may interfere with the ability of cancer cells to grow and spread. It is not yet known whether giving acalabrutinib with or without obinutuzumab will work better in treating participants with early-stage chronic lymphocytic leukemia or small lymphocytic lymphoma. 18F-DOPA PET in Sarcoma Patients Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to identify early response biomarkers from biological or functional imaging to better align with clinical trial endpoints and minimize sarcoma patient toxicities. A Phase 1 Study of Voruciclib in Subjects With B-Cell Malignancies or AML Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and preliminary efficacy of voruciclib as monotherapy in subjects with relapsed or refractory B-cell malignancies or AML, and in combination with venetoclax in subjects with relapsed or refractory AML after treatment with standard therapy. A Study of Women undergoing Mammogram Screening at Mountain Park Clinic Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The goal of this research is to identify risk profiles of women (with particular emphasis on Hispanic women) for breast cancer based on family history, breast density and other factors known to impact risk such as age, weight, age at menarche, age at birth of first child, etc. A Study of Sonidegib and Pembrolizumab in Advanced Solid Tumors Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of sonidegib in combination with pembrolizumab in participants with advanced solid tumors as part of the dose escalation phase, and to estimate the response rate of sonidegib in combination with pembrolizumab in participants with NSCLC or pancreas cancer as part of the expansion cohort based on RECIST criteria. A Study of 3-D Digital Mammography to Screen Patients for Breast Cancer Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to evaluate digital tomosynthesis (3-D) mammography and digital mammography in screening patients for breast cancer. Screening for breast cancer with tomosynthesis mammography may be superior to digital mammography for breast cancer screening and may help reduce the need for additional imaging or treatment. A Study to Evaluate Lenalidomide and Dexamethasone, with or without Daratumumab, in Treating High-Risk Smoldering Myeloma Patients Eau Claire, Wis., Rochester, Minn., Albert Lea, Minn. The purpose of this study is to show how well lenalidomide and dexamethasone work with or without daratumumab in treating patients with high-risk smoldering myeloma. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as lenalidomide and dexamethasone, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as daratumumab, may induce changes in the body's immune system and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving lenalidomide and dexamethasone with daratumumab may work better in treating patients with smoldering myeloma. A Study to Compare Somatostatin Analogues with Perioperative Antibiotics versus Prolonged Antibiotics Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to to determine the individual treatment effect of somatostatin and whether duration of antibiotic therapy coupled with octreotide provides improved outcomes after pancreaticoduodenectomy. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
